Ondo Amotekun Suspends Three Officers, Declares Them Wanted Over Alleged Misconduct

…Agency Parades Four Criminal Suspects, Vows Zero Tolerance for Indiscipline

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has dismissed and declared three of its officers wanted over alleged gross misconduct and acts capable of tarnishing the image of the agency.

The affected officers — Abu Taiwo, Akinsipe Victor, and Ekujumi Julius — were said to have engaged in actions considered unbecoming of personnel of a disciplined security outfit.

Commandant of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Monday in Akure while parading four suspected criminals arrested for various offences across different parts of the state.

Adeleye explained that the suspension and declaration of the officers followed internal investigations, adding that the agency will not condone any act that compromises its operational ethics or the safety of residents.

“These officers were found engaging in activities that undermine the integrity of the Corps. They have been suspended and declared wanted to face disciplinary procedures. Amotekun will continue to uphold professionalism and transparency in all its operations,” Adeleye said.

He further revealed that six additional suspects arrested in Ogbese for alleged armed robbery and kidnapping were still under investigation and were not paraded to avoid jeopardizing the ongoing probe.

Among those paraded was Ogungbemi Adebayo (29), who confessed to working as an informant for a kidnapping gang operating around Ademekun Powerline in Gbondada Camp. Adebayo said he was recruited under the pretext of being a farmhand but later discovered he was being trained to handle AK-47 rifles.

He admitted undergoing weapons training and had been providing intelligence to the syndicate before being apprehended by a joint security patrol comprising Amotekun operatives, Civil Defence officers, and local vigilantes.

Another suspect, Nasiru Suleiman, was arrested for vandalizing and dismantling government-owned heavy-duty equipment, including caterpillars, at a state yard along Akure–Owo Road. Adeleye said the suspect and his accomplices were caught red-handed while attempting to strip the machinery.

Also paraded were Saliu Nure (57), arrested for robbery and arson near the NEPA Market in Akure, and Ahmed Oladimeji, who was caught with stolen electrical equipment in Akure North Local Government Area.

Adeleye maintained that the agency’s recent operations had significantly reduced crime across the state, assuring residents that Ondo remains one of the safest states in Nigeria.

“We will continue to work with other security agencies and community leaders to ensure peace and order. Criminal elements will find no hiding place in Ondo State,” he stressed.

On viral social media reports alleging that some officers had not received appointment letters, the Commander described the claims as false and politically motivated.

“Some individuals, including the three dismissed officers, were sponsored to discredit the Corps. Their claims are baseless and intended to create unnecessary tension. We remain focused on our mandate to protect lives and property,” he clarified.

Adeleye reaffirmed that Amotekun operates under a legal and administrative framework, guided by the laws of Ondo State, and would continue to uphold discipline and professionalism among its ranks.

“No one is above the law. We will continue to serve the people of Ondo State with integrity,” he concluded.
