Ondo Assembly Commends OAUSTECH’s innovative approach, urges sustained growth

The Ondo State House of Assembly has commended the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) for its innovative approach to higher education.

The House Committee on Tertiary Institutions, led by its Chairman, Hon Chris Ayebusiwa, who was represented by Hon Stephen Abitogun, gave the commendation during a visit to the university in Okitipupa.

The committee members praised the university’s ability to generate revenue through innovative strategies, introducing programs that are in high demand, and leveraging a robust payment platform.

They also emphasized the importance of transparency and effective stakeholder engagement, urging the university to maintain its good performance.

The lawmakers pledged their support and willingness to work closely with the university to address challenges and ensure sustained progress.

Earlier, while welcoming the lawmakers, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa, highlighted the institution’s activities , challenges and achievements.

He noted that despite charging modest fees, the university has attained remarkable milestones, including paying minimum wage to staff and clearing outstanding salaries and entitlements.

According to him, “We have been able to achieve this through our ability to sell knowledge and generate revenue through innovative means. We introduced programs that are in high demand, and we have leveraged a robust payment platform to ensure that students can easily pay their fees.”

Prof. Ologunorisa affirmed the university’s commitment to excellence and innovation, adding, “Our transformed landscape is proof of our vision. We have changed the narrative, making the University of Science and Technology a model for others to follow.”
