Deji Adeyanju Fires Back at Peter Obi’s Lawsuit Threat

Activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has reacted to threats of legal action from Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over alleged defamatory posts on social media.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Adeyanju maintained that Obi, as a public figure, must be open to criticism. He stated: “If Peter Obi doesn’t want to be criticized, he should go back to his house and eat jollof rice. Anyone who puts themselves in public office must be criticized, scrutinized, and even insulted.”

Obi’s legal team, through the law firm of Alex Ejesieme & Co., had earlier issued a letter citing Adeyanju’s posts on X and Facebook, where he allegedly referred to Obi as “a religious bigot, a fraud, a product of bad upbringing, a scam, and a thief.”

The letter demanded that Adeyanju delete the posts and issue “a full, unreserved, unqualified, and public apology” across his social media platforms as well as in three national newspapers.
