Ondo Assembly Confirms Olawoye as Commissioner Designate

Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Eng Abiola Olawoye as a commissioner-designate.
Olawoye who was from Ondo West,was confirmed during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji.
His name was among the sixteen commissioner-nominees recently sent by the state governor, Hon Lucky Ayedatiwa to the house and was screened to be confirmed as Commisioner-designate by the house.
It will be recalled that he took permission to be absent through a leter sent to the house where it was stated that he was on an official assignment during the confirmation of other 15 Commissioner nominees last week.
His confirmation followed the approval of the recommendations by the Committee of the Whole House and the adoption of the report through a voice vote by the lawmakers.
Earlier, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Olatunji Oshati, moved motions for the appearance of the nominee before the House and later for the adoption of the report and confirmation of the nominee. This was seconded by the lawmaker representing Ilaje 2, Hon Princess Olawunmi Fayemi-Obayelu, and the lawmaker representing Akoko North West Constituency 1, Fatai Atere.
The lawmaker from Ondo West Constituency 2, Abiola Oladapo, read the biography of the nominee and spoke in support of his confirmation, describing him as competent and capable of delivering on the responsibilities of the office.
In his remarks, Speaker Oladiji said the confirmation was in line with constitutional provisions. He thanked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for appointing a technocrat as commissioner. He charged the new commissioner-designate to work closely with the governor to move the state forward. He congratulated him and urged him to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
Speaking, the commissioner-designate pledged not to disappoint the governor, the House, and the people of Ondo State. He promised to bring his experience to bear in delivering effective public service.
Meanwhile, the following bills sent to the House by the state government scaled through first reading:
They are:A bill for a law to provide for the registration of domestic staff service providers and the collection of data on domestic staff in Ondo State,a bill for a law to prohibit the act of kidnapping and abduction,a bill for a law to prohibit unlawful societies and cultism in all learning institutions and communities in Ondo State,a bill for a law to establish the Ondo State Roads Fund (ODSRF) to fund the management, planning, development, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of Class C and Class D roads, as well as the maintenance of Class B roads in Ondo State.
