Ondo Assembly Confirms Akinlosotu, Takuro, Ajaka, others as Commissioners

Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Dr. Banji Ajaka, Engr. Johnson Alabi, Mr Segun Omoyofunmi, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, Dr. Tob Loko, Mrs Seun Osamaye, Ayodele Akande, as commissioners in the State.

Others are; Prof Igbekele Ajibefun, Mr Olaolu Akindolire, Hon. Sunday Olajide, Pastor Bola Ademuwagun, Mr Adesoji Afolabi, Mr Akinola Emmanuel Olaleye.

Their confirmation was sequel to the submission and consideration of a report by the house selection committee Chaired by the Speaker.

The house had earlier conducted screening exercise for the nominees at the assembly complex.

Meanwhile, One out of the sixteen Commissioner -nominees, Engr. Abiola Olawoye from Ondo West local government yet to be confirmed was unavoidably absent. The Clerk of the house, Barr. Jaiyeola Benjamin read his letter of permission at the plenary.

While submitting the report, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu recommended the confirmation of the appointment of the nominees whom he affirmed have been properly screened.

Gbegudu said the nominee responded to all questions raised by the Committee in a very eloquent and explicit order, noting that they have a clear understanding of the position, adding that they possess the required academic qualifications, physically, mentally and emotionally stable and fit to accomplish the task. The report also stated that they possess the required experience, Charisma and the much needed exposure to function effectively.

“They articulated clearly the understanding of the policies of the present Administration in Ondo State. They equally highlighted their various achievements in previous assignments as State officials and in other assignments they had undergone as well as their desire to do more if their appointment as State Commissioners are eventually confirmed”.

The Majority leader of the House, Hon. Olatunji Oshatti moved the motion for the report to be considered and the nominees be confirmed and was seconded by Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo constituency 1.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oladiji who ruled for the confirmation congratulated the Commissioners, urging them to put in their best and pledged the house support to the executive for the people to enjoy more democracy dividend.

He announced that another confirmation date will be scheduled for Engr. Abiola Olawoye.

Responding on behalf of other Commissioners, Hon. Sunday Olajide appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for finding them worthy of the position pledging not to betray his emotion and confidence reposed in them.

He also appreciated the lawmakers for the efforts they have put in place during the screening and confirmation noting that promoting understanding between arms of government will be their priority.

He assured that it is a new dawn in the State saying that they will bring their experience to bear towards effective service delivery.

We are ready to work for the progress of the State, we will key into Governor Aiyedatiwa’s “Our Ease” developmental agenda.
