Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Arraigned for Alleged Cybercrime, Granted Bail
Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was on Monday arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a six-count charge of alleged cybercrime targeting Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello.

The charges, brought by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), stemmed from statements the Senator allegedly made during a public event and a television interview, where she reportedly accused Akpabio of directing Bello to have her assassinated in Kogi State.
The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/195/2025, was filed following a petition submitted by Senate President Akpabio to the Inspector General of Police. Upon investigation, the AGF’s office charged Senator Natasha under the Cybercrime Act for allegedly disseminating harmful electronic information intended to incite the public, endanger lives, and disrupt order.
Appearing in court alongside her husband, the Senator pleaded not guilty to all charges. Her counsel, Prof. Roland Otaru (SAN), requested bail, assuring the court that she is not a flight risk and will not obstruct the judicial process. He emphasized her right to the presumption of innocence under the Constitution.
The prosecution did not object to the bail request but urged the court to impose conditions that would ensure her availability for trial.
Justice Mohammed Umar granted Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan bail on self-recognisance and adjourned the case to September 22, 2025, for the commencement of trial.
