ODE-ERINJE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT, BARR. ADEREHINWO FELICITATES ERINJE COMMUNITY ON 2025 ERE FESTIVAL; LAUDS LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS FOR PROVIDING ENABLING ENVIRONMENT.
Barr. Olajide Aderehinwo, President of the Ode-Erinje Development Association, extends warm congratulations to Kabiesi HRM Oba Oladele Akinmoye, the Orungberunwa of Erinje Kingdom, and the entire good people of Ode-Erinje on the successful celebration of the 2025 Ere Festival.
The Ere Festival is a vibrant display of the rich cultural heritage of the Erinje people, symbolizing unity, identity, and communal pride that has endured through generations. This ancient festival is a celebration of life, harvest, and spiritual rejuvenation, showcasing the community’s deep-rooted traditions and customs. Through music, dance, and masquerade displays, the festival brings together people from all walks of life, fostering a sense of belonging and community cohesion.
A significant aspect of the festival is the offering of prayers to ancestors, where the community pays homage to their forebears, seeking their continued guidance and protection. The festival is celebrated quarters by quarters, with each quarter showcasing its unique cultural expressions and traditions.
The festival is also marked by the arrival of daughters of the kingdom who are married elsewhere, who return home bearing gifts of food and other items, symbolizing their connection to their roots and their desire to share in the joy and celebration of their people. This influx of “homecoming daughters” adds to the festive atmosphere, as they join their families and community in celebrating their shared heritage.
This year’s edition of the Ere Festival was particularly unique, as it marked a grand return to the traditional splendor of the festival after a brief period of scaled-down celebrations. The festival also featured a special showcase of Erinje’s rich cultural heritage, including traditional dances, masquerade displays, and a grand durbar of horses.
The Ere Festival serves as a reminder of the collective history, traditions, and resilient spirit of the people, providing an opportunity to reflect on their roots, promote peace and harmony, and uphold the cultural values that bind them together. It is a testament to the community’s ability to preserve its cultural legacy and pass it down to future generations.
Barr. Aderehinwo commends the traditional institution for its steadfast role in preserving the cultural legacy of Erinje. He expresses gratitude to the leadership of Okitipupa Local Government under the watch of Hon. Andrew Soga Ogunsakin and the Ondo State Government led by Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for providing the enabling environment that allows cultural festivals like the Ere Festival to thrive.
He prays for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Erinje Kingdom under the wise and revered leadership of its monarch.
