Aiyedatiwa’s Former Special Adviser Bags Gender Equality Champion Award

Chief Olamide Julianna Falana, Former Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor is set to be decorated with the prestigious Gender Equality Champion Award by Chronicle Magazine at the 2025 Fizzy Lecture and Award Ceremony. The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 3 PM, at the OSDPC Multipurpose Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State.

A distinguished leader in governance and gender advocacy, Chief Falana was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State in 2021 by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu. Before this, she held key positions, including at the World Bank-assisted Ondo State Community & Social Development Agency (ODCSDA) in 2020, among other strategic roles.

Her contributions to gender empowerment are extensive. She has served as: Mentor at the Commonwealth Women’s Mentorship Program (2018), Consultant for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) – IWD (2019), and Consultant for the Christian Rural and Urban Development Association of Nigeria (2019, 2020)

On the political front, she has played vital roles in major campaigns and party committees, including: Secretary of the Civil Society and Support Group Committee for the 2020 governorship re-election of Arakunrin Akeredolu, Secretary of the APC Primaries Committee for the 2019 local government elections in Ilaje LGA, Member of the APC Disciplinary Committee, Aspirant for Ese-Odo Constituency, Ondo State House of Assembly (2015), and Gubernatorial Candidate of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) in 2016.

The 2025 Fizzy Lecture, themed “Curtailing the Mystery of Ritual Killings and Cyber Crimes: A Critical Analysis in Nigeria’s Perception,” will feature insights from Dr. Gbenga Abimbola of the Mass Communication Department, AAU Akungba.

The event will be chaired by Hon. (Dr.) Gbenga Fasua, Chairman of Akure Local Government, with His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State, as the Special Guest of Honour. Dignitaries from various sectors will gather to celebrate Chief Falana’s outstanding contributions.

Recognized for her relentless advocacy, she has received numerous awards, including: Woman of the Year Award (2017), Award on Women Empowerment (2016) – Trace News Magazine, Award of Excellence as a Worthy Alumna – School of Life Sciences, FUTA (2023), Award of Excellence in Care for Special Persons (2022), Award of Excellence from St. Leo, among many others.

In recognition of her impactful work, she was re-appointed Special Adviser on Gender by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Her dedication to gender equality and societal progress continues to inspire, making this recognition well-deserved.
