Ayedatiwa SSA, Tomide Akinribido to Receive IT Rockstar Award for Outstanding Contributions to Digital Innovation
Hon. Tomide Akinribido, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ondo State Governor on Information and Communications Technology (ICT), is set to be honored with the prestigious IT Rockstar Award by The Chronicle Media at the Fizzy Lecture and Award on Sunday, March 9, 2025. The award recognizes his exceptional contributions to digital transformation and technology advocacy in Ondo State.
A passionate digital media and tech enthusiast, Hon. Akinribido has made significant strides in youth empowerment and political engagement. He previously served as the Ondo State coordinator of the 30% Or Nothing socio-political movement, pushing for increased youth representation in leadership positions. His political journey includes serving as a special assistant to the former Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP), Rt. Hon. Ayodele Obe, and later as a media consultant to the NYP.
In 2019, Hon. Akinribido made history by winning a seat in the Ondo State House of Assembly to represent Ondo West Constituency 1, where he became the youngest Deputy Minority Leader in the state’s legislative history. Throughout his tenure, he played a crucial role in shaping policies, particularly in areas of sustainable development, international relations, and youth inclusion.
He also made incessant empowerment of his people his watchword by providing financial assistance to the less privileged including the widoes, with constant education support to the students.
His appointment as SSA on ICT in July 2024 by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa positioned him as the political head of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), where he has led initiatives to enhance digital literacy and expand ICT accessibility across Ondo State. His leadership has earned him multiple accolades, including: SDGs Youth Ambassador of Nigeria by the Civil Society Coalition for Sustainable Development, Ondo State Lawmaker of the Year 2020 by TRACE News Magazine, and Ondo State Legislator of the Year 2021 by the Nigerian Outstanding Leadership Hero Award Platform.
The award ceremony and lecture will take place at the OSDPC Multipurpose Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State. Themed “Curtailing the Mystery of Ritual Killings and Cyber Crimes: A Critical Analysis in Nigeria’s Perception,” the event will feature Dr. Gbenga Abimbola from the Mass Communication Department of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko as the keynote speaker.
Dignitaries expected at the event include Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, and Hon. (Dr.) Gbenga Fasua, Chairman of Akure Local Government, who will chair the occasion.
Hon. Akinribido’s recognition as an IT Rockstar is a testament to his dedication to digital innovation, governance, and youth development. His leadership continues to pave the way for a more technologically advanced and inclusive future in Ondo State.
