Ondo Assembly commends Amotekun, passes new bill into law

Ondo State House of Assembly has today passed vote of confidence on the security network , “Amotekun Corps” in the State.

The House stated this in its resolution at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt.Hon Olamide Oladiji.

According to the House,Amotekun security network has been performing creditably well, resolving that the Corps should be better empowered in order to enhance better performance and curtail insecurity in the state.

While describing the activities of suspected herdsmen as worrisome, the House tasked all security agencies in the state to synergise and keep crime at bay in the Sunshine State.

The lawmakers who condemned the recent killings of two farmers that occurred recently in the Northern Senatorial district of the State, called for all hands to be on deck to checkmate the ugly act.

The House affirmed that it had passed a bill prohibiting open grazing in the State, warning that anybody that violates such law would be brought to book.

“Ondo State is well known for peace.This is where citizens and residents go about their legitimate sources of livelihood without fear of any kind.As lawmakers,we cannot fold our arms and allow criminals to inhibit the peace and tranquility in the State”, they explained

Appreciating other members for passing vote of confidence on Amotekun in Ondo State,the Chairman, House Committee onsecurity,Hon.Ololade Gbegudu expressed optimism that the security network would succeed in its oars at reducing crime rate in the State.

Earlier,the Speaker of the House, Oladiji lauded the Governor of Ondo State,Hon.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his various efforts at sustaining the existing peace and giving priority to security of lives and properties in the State.

Meanwhile,a bill for a law to provide for the amendment of Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission law 2021 has been passed into law.

The passage followed the submission of the report of the Committee on human capital by its Chairman, Chief Olatunji Oshati for consideration and approval .

Presenting the report on the floor of the House, Oshati explained that the idea of passing the bill into law was welcomed by members of the committee since it would address and correct the lacuna in the principal law

The Majority Leader of the House representing Owo constituency 1,Hon.Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi who moved a motion for the bill to be passed into law, appreciated the Committee for ensuring the needful was done, while it was seconded by the Minority leader representing Akure South Constituency 1,Hon.Olajide Oguntodu.
