DO MORE TO HELP THE LESS PRIVILEGED, ONDO LAWMAKERS URGE COMMISSIONER
The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has been urged to do more to better the lives of the less privileged in the society.
Lawmakers of the Ondo State House of Assembly during a visit to the Ministry said this is the only way to extend the dividends of democracy to the down trodden.
Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development Hon Favour Tomomewo who led other lawmakers during the visit, urged the Ministry to connect to the grassroots by creating programmes and platforms that would touch people’s lives.
Tomomewo urged the Commissioner to interface with non governmental agencies with a view to tapping their resources.
A member of the Committee, Honourable Samuel Edamisan Ademola who advocated more rights to women pledged the lawmakers collaboration towards enhancing a better life for women.
Also Speaking, Honourable Toluwani Borokini urged the Ministry to showcase the activities of the Ministry through unbridled publicity.
He urged the Women Affairs Ministry to synergize with the House of Assembly towards impacting positively on the people.
Another member of the team, Honourable Taofeek Mohammed Oladele pledged support of members towards enhancing the performance of the Ministry.
In her response, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Titi Adeyemi thanked the lawmakers for the visit.
She spelt out the enormous programmes of the Ministry targeted at bringing succour to the less privileged.
The Commissioner who pledged an improved rapport with the lawmakers pleaded with them for an improved budgetary provision to allow the Ministry accomplish her goals.
