Assembly election: My Victory is not Negotiable —Ondo SDP Candidate, Duro Dolapo
Ahead of the March 18 Gubernatorial and House of Assembly Elections, the Social Democratic Party Candidate for Ondo State House of Assembly, Akoko South West Constituency II, Dr. Duro Dolapo, on Sunday, said he would emerge victorious regardless of any ploy orchestrated by his oppositions.
Dolapo confidently said his growing popularity and overwhelming public support had given him a edge above all other candidates, while he expressed optimism that he would win the March 18 election.
The candidate who hails from Supare-Akoko, stated this while he was reacting to a meeting organized by the community on Sunday, where some stakeholders were said to have ordered residents of the community to vote for a particular candidate.
It was reliably gathered that the said meeting which was held at Supare Town Hall on Sunday evening, ended in fiasco, as the order to vote the candidate, according to a source, drew the ire of some residents who staged a walk out from the venue.
Miffed by the order, Dolapo said some “powerful forces” who had premonition of their imminent defeat were the ones making subterranean moves to subvert the will of people, saying he will continue to vigorously campaign untill he emerges winner of the contest.
He said, “We were surprised when the leaders of Supare Community called us for a meeting. Ab initio, I thought it was a peace meeting among political parties’ candidates.
“Infact the Regent and most of the Chiefs were there and they told us that they had a meeting in Akure and they were told to vote for a particular candidate.
“It was at this point people read the handwriting on the wall and they walked out of the venue. Regardless of their plans, I will defeat both the PDP, APC and Labour Party Candidates”, he said.
