2024 supplementary budget:Ondo Assembly holds public hearing

Ondo State House of Assembly today held a public hearing on the 2024 supplementary budget .

The concerns Ministries,Departments, and Agencies,(MDAs) appeared before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation to explained in details on the need for the revised budget.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Akogun Olugbenga Omole, the State Commission for Women Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism,Alhaji Rasheed Badmus among other government top officials were on ground to speak on their budget performance and shed light on the additional provisions.

Declaring the public hearing open, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji noted that the exercise is a normal practice to shed light on the grey areas,charging the MDAs to cooperate with the committee in achieving the set goal.

According to the Speaker,the new minimum wage and many other things have to be captured to move the State forward.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi
affirmed that the bill is very important to the State because of the current economic indices and without it, implementation of minimum wage and other things in various sectors will not be realistic.

The Chairman of the Committee who is the Majority Leader of the house said even though the MDAs have discussed it at the treasury level,it is important for the Committee to properly scrutinized before budget passage.

Recalled that the State House of Assembly had last week Tuesday committed the N92 billion 2024 supplementary budget proposal to the Committee Stage after scaling through the second reading.

The supplementary budget increased the 2024 total budget to N487,437b.

The 2024 budget earlier passed by the State House of Assembly and assented to by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was over N395 billion.
