‎‎ APC Sweeps Ondo Assembly as Minority Leader, Deputy Defect‎‎By Elizabeth Oyeniwa‎‎The Ondo State House of Assembly has welcomed two more lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC), giving the ruling party a clean sweep of all 26 seats in the House.‎‎‎The defecting lawmakers, Hon Olajide Oguntodu (Minority Leader) and Hon Raymond Daodu (Deputy Minority Leader), cited irreconcilable differences within the PDP as their reason for leaving.‎‎‎They were welcomed into the APC during a plenary session, presided over by Speaker Chief Olamide Oladiji.‎‎‎The defection marks a historic milestone, as the APC now holds all seats in the Ondo State House of Assembly.‎‎‎ The Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Oladiji described the development as part of a growing political consciousness across Ondo State, aligning with the party’s vision and development agenda.‎‎‎‎Hon Olajide Oguntodu said his decision followed consultations with constituents, leaders, and stakeholders, who advised him to join a more viable platform.‎‎‎He pledged to work with the APC for the development of his constituency, Ondo State, and Nigeria.‎‎‎While Hon Raymond Daodu cited deep personal reflection and consultations with stakeholders as the reasons for his defection, reaffirming his commitment to service, integrity, and accountability.‎‎‎‎Before the defection, the House appealed to the Federal and State Governments to repair the Ogbagi Àkoko – Irun Àkoko road and the Afo–Idoani road, citing their deplorable condition as a death trap and hindrance to agricultural activities.‎‎‎The House urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to draw the attention of the Minister of Works to all Federal Roads in the state and directed the relevant committee to liaise with FERMA and report back to the House.
